Dessislava Atanassova
Dessislava Atanassova was born in Rousse, Bulgaria, in 1967. She studied piano performance under Prof. Julia Ganeva and Prof. Dimo Dimov at the Sofia National Music Academy. In 1991 she graduated with honors in piano, piano chamber music and accompaniment.From 1990 to 1992 she worked as a solo accompanist for flute, oboe and violin. Dessislava Atanassova performed as a soloist with various orchestras, as a chamber musician and accompanist in Bulgaria, Italy, Switzerland, North Korea, Austria, the Czech Republic and Germany. She also performed at music seminars and festivals and for television and radio recordings. She was awarded prizes at competitions in Provadia, Sofia and Prague.
From 1994 to 1997 she studied piano performance under Prof. Rudolf Kehrer and piano chamber music under Prof. Georg Ebert and Prof. Avo Kouyoumdjian at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna. She completed her studies with a diploma in piano chamber music. In 1996 and 2000 she was the official accompanist at the Fritz Kreisler International Violin Competition in Vienna.
Dessislava Atanassova has taught numerous master classes, given concerts and performed for recordings as a soloist and chamber musician in Austria and abroad. She has performed and worked together with R. Leopold, O. Stanchev, W. Klos, M. Frischenschlager, P. Gallois, B. Gisler-Haase, A. Kish, R. Aitken, M. Zienkowsky, G. Spasov, U. Danhofer and many other well known musicians.
Since 2000 she has been teaching at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna.
